Arizona is an at-will state which generally means an employee can quit at any time for any reason and the employer can terminate at any time for any reason. Other than an unlawful reason. Unlawful reasons include discrimination and retaliation. If an employer terminates an employee on the basis of sex, race, age and other protected classes, the employee may be entitled to damages.

Likewise, if an employer terminates an employee in retaliation for reporting potentially unlawful conduct, the employee may also be entitled to damages.
